Freelance profile

Jonathan Bastable

I am a travel writer and an author. I began my career at the Sunday Times Magazine, and spent several years in Moscow as a correspondent for the ST and other newspapers. I know Russia well, and I am a fluent Russian speaker. I have published numerous books on historical themes, among them 'Voices From D-Day' (excerpted in The Daily Express), Voices From Stalingrad, and 'Voices From the World of Samuel Pepys'. I regularly write on foreign destinations for Conde Nast Traveller. My most recent pieces were on the French West Indies, Prague, St Petersburg and Dubrovnik.
